About Judge Deborah Lang

Judge Lang was elected to the Licking County Juvenile/Probate Court in November, 2020. She is is a respected jurist, earning the reputation of being tough, but fair through her more than 16 years of experience on the bench.

Dedicated

Judge Lang has spent her career protecting children and the most vulnerable people in our community. She is dedicated to ensuring the safety of Licking county residents. While tough on serious juvenile offenders, Judge Lang provides a path to rehabilitation whenever possible.

During her first term, she oversaw the creation of multiple initiatives to assist the families and children in Licking County. She has been recognized by the Supreme Court of Ohio and invited to speak to other judges about how to bring these programs to their communities.

Her accomplishments include, but not limited, the creation of the Juvenile Court’s Assessment and Resource Center, the Mentorship Program and the centralized truancy accountability program.

Passionate

A woman of faith and family, Judge Lang is a native of Licking County with deep roots in our community. Her father owned a small business in downtown Newark for over thirty years, and her family has lived in Licking County since the 1800’s.

Conservative

Judge Lang is a conservative Republican who believes in limited government and a restrained judiciary that does not legislate from the bench.
